Vacation homes, which used to be regarded as secondary homes, are now being considered as principal residences in the post-pandemic era. If well-conceived, such neighborhoods outside megacities can become safe havens for easy social distancing and the enjoyment of the outdoors.

AboitizLand is developing Foressa Mountain Town, a mountain residential estate in Barangay Cansomoroy, Balamban, Cebu.

AboitizLand said Foressa Mountain Town offers much-needed respite from daily crowding and the rigors of quarantine life in the city, while still within manageable distance from familiar conveniences as it is just an hour from the city along the scenic Transcentral Highway. The mountain resort village and its surrounding areas have unique recreational opportunities for every member of the family.

The lots are configured generously, with an average size of 442 square meters (sq.m.) which means more interior playground for the family and guests. Within the community is its own commercial hub, The Foressa Town Center, to provide the leisure and retail needs of both its future residents as well as the public.

AboitizLand adopts new urbanist principles in its residential projects, a community-centered approach that is linked to the idea of connectedness and resiliency. For Foressa, it tapped Miami-based DPZ CoDESIGN, thought leaders on new urbanism, as consultant and masterplanner.

The lots-only Foressa mountain enclave is a low-density residential development that offers only 11 lots per hectare, with half of the approximately 257 hectares to be devoted to open and shared spaces.

Unique to the property is its direct access to nature as the development’s star amenity, home to over 800 species of trees and 600,000 sq.m. of protected riverside areas.

AboitizLand and DPZ said they made sure to minimize cutting into slopes and ensured the preservation of vegetation and existing habitats in the area, while also enhancing the views.

Construction of the clubhouse, swimming pool, and the Foressa Destination Café will commence in early 2021. Only about a quarter of the first phase remains for sale.

AboitizLand offers a limited-time offer of 20 percent discount for Foressa lot buyers. The developer has also arranged a payment scheme available through UnionBank wherein equity is only 10 percent of the total price, payable in 18 monthly amortizations.
